Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: 2026-05-14 Last updated: 2026-05-14
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes how you may and may not use heavyparts.ai. It is part of our Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to comply with this AUP. Violation may result in suspension or termination without refund.
1. Permitted Uses
The Service is provided for legitimate commercial and professional purposes, including:
- Looking up part numbers, fitment, and specifications for heavy machinery
- Verifying part compatibility for service, repair, and procurement decisions
- Researching technical specifications, torque values, service procedures, and diagnostic information
- Accessing image, document, and supplier references for parts identification
- Submitting Vehicle Identification Numbers for decoding
- Asking general knowledge questions about heavy equipment, brands, models, and parts
- Communicating with our support team in good faith
You may use AI-generated output ("Output") for your business purposes — including internal documentation, customer communications, procurement decisions, and field service operations — subject to the verification requirement in Section 8 of our Terms of Service (you must independently verify AI-generated information against official OEM sources before acting on it).
2. Prohibited Uses
You may not, and may not encourage or assist others to:
2.1 Unlawful or harmful use
- Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose
- Use the Service to violate any third party's rights, including intellectual property, privacy, contractual, or publicity rights
- Use the Service to facilitate any illegal activity, including export-controlled transactions, sanctioned-party trade, or trafficking
2.2 Competitive abuse
- Use the Service to build, train, fine-tune, or evaluate competing AI tools or machine-learning models
- Reverse engineer the Service to replicate our prompts, pipeline, or product structure
- Use the Service to systematically build a competing parts database
2.3 Automated abuse and scraping
- Use bots, scrapers, crawlers, or any automated means to access the Service, except through a published API (if available) and within its documented rate limits
- Bypass, attempt to bypass, or interfere with usage quotas, rate limits, or paywall enforcement
- Submit queries at a volume or pattern designed to overload, disrupt, or degrade the Service
- Share, sell, sublicense, or transfer your account credentials
- Use multiple accounts to circumvent quotas or trial restrictions
2.4 Bulk redistribution
- Scrape or systematically extract data from the Service for redistribution or republication
- Resell, syndicate, or publicly publish AI-generated Output as a standalone product or service without substantial additional value or transformation
- Mirror, cache, or persist Service output to a public-facing database
2.5 Security and integrity
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' accounts, our infrastructure, or any related systems
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, except as part of a responsible disclosure program if one is published
- Inject malicious code, malware, or harmful content into the Service
- Decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer any part of the Service (except where applicable law expressly permits this)
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or any connected networks or systems
- Use the Service to attack, scan, or probe other websites or systems
2.6 Content abuse
- Submit queries containing illegal content, hate speech, harassment, threats, child sexual abuse material, or any content prohibited by law
- Submit confidential third-party data, trade secrets, or personally identifiable information of others that you are not authorized to share
- Submit data subject to regulated handling requirements (e.g., protected health information, classified material) without separate written agreement
- Use the Service to defame, harass, intimidate, or harm others
- Use prompt injection, jailbreak, or evasion techniques to circumvent the Service's safety measures
2.7 Misrepresentation
- Impersonate any person, organization, or entity
- Submit false information when creating an account, completing forms, or interacting with our team
- Misrepresent AI-generated Output as authoritative OEM documentation when communicating with downstream parties (e.g., customers, dealers, or end users)
- Falsely attribute statements to us or to AI providers we integrate with
3. AI Safety
The Service uses AI to generate responses. We employ multiple safety measures including prompt injection sanitization, content filtering, and source verification on selected pipeline steps.
Do not attempt to bypass these safety measures. Submissions designed to extract harmful information, generate prohibited content, or manipulate the Service's outputs may be logged, escalated, and result in account suspension.
4. Reporting Violations
If you observe abuse of the Service or have a security concern, contact team@heavyparts.ai with:
- A description of the issue
- Approximate time and date
- Any relevant URLs, screenshots, or account references
- Your contact information (optional but helpful for follow-up)
For suspected security vulnerabilities in the Service itself, email the same address with "Security Disclosure" in the subject. We will respond within 5 business days. We do not currently have a paid bug bounty program but appreciate responsible disclosure.
5. Enforcement
We may, at our sole discretion and without liability:
- Investigate suspected violations by reviewing your account activity, query logs, and metadata
- Issue a warning by email or in-app message
- Restrict access to specific features (e.g., temporarily disable Pro Search or Machine Lock) while investigating
- Suspend your account temporarily
- Terminate your account permanently, with or without notice
- Refuse refunds in cases of confirmed violations
- Report violations to law enforcement, affected third parties, or relevant authorities where required by law
- Take legal action where appropriate
We aim to apply enforcement proportionately:
- First-time minor issues typically receive a warning
- Repeated or moderate violations result in temporary suspension
- Serious violations (security, fraud, illegal content) result in immediate termination
You agree that we are not liable for any loss resulting from enforcement actions taken in good faith.
6. No Right to a Particular Outcome
You acknowledge that:
- The Service's AI may decline to respond to certain queries based on safety filters
- We may limit or restrict access to certain features for any user at any time
- We are not obligated to provide a refund if your account is suspended or terminated for AUP violations
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice at least 14 days in advance.
